About MHS HISTORY Millennium High School (MHS) was founded in 2002 with a $500,000 grant from New Visions for Public Schools. Lower Manhattan's Community Board 1 raised $14 million to build the school, which is located on the 11th, 12th and 13th floors of 75 Broad Street, the 1929 "International Telephone Building." MHS enrolls approximately 630 students. Teachers are available every day after school for extra help. MISSION MHS provides a rigorous liberal arts academic program. We prepare graduates for a college of choice and empower students through the setting and reaching of goals. MHS also believes in teacher leadership and provides an extensive professional development program based on content, pedagogy, youth development and advisement. ADMINISTRATION AND STAFF Principal Robert Rhodes has been a public school teacher and administrator for 21 years. He received Clark University's Secondary Educator of the Year Award in 2003 and in 2008 was awarded a Cahn Fellowship designed by Teachers College to recognize outstanding principals. The faculty members of MHS all have Master's degrees in their respective fields, and many have been recipients of highly competitive grants and have studied around the world. PARENTS' ASSOCIATION The Parents' Association at MHS is very active and provides resources to the school that would otherwise be unavailable. They meet once a month and hold a number of fund raising events through out the year. All parents are automatically members of the PA. Please click on the Parents tab for more information. |
