Selection Criteria Millennium High School is a screened program. This means that the school selects their applicants based on criteria set by the school. The minimum criteria to be considered for admission to Millennium includes:
Admission priority is given to students who reside or attend school below Houston Street in Manhattan. Second priority is given to students who reside or attend school in Manhattan. Third priority is given to students in the rest of New York City. In 2010, we had over 5,300 applications for 150 seats.
In addition to the above criteria, it is optional to submit a one page personal essay, approximately 250 words (no longer than 500), single or double spaced. The essay topic is: Tell us about a challenging problem and how you solved it.
The deadline to submit your essay is December 2nd, 2011. We no longer accept essays on hard copy, so please do not mail it. Essays must be submitted through our website (check under the Admissions tab starting in mid October). If you do not have Internet access at home, you can visit any NYC public library for free Internet access. |
