After School Program
YMCA AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM The extended day/After-school Program keeps the school open every day until 6:00 p.m. The After-school Program has two components: academic support and student life. The academic support consists of tutoring, homework help, writing center, lap top sign-out, and Kaplan SAT prep. The student life program provides a variety of clubs that support leadership development, creative expression, physical development, healthy lifestyles, civic engagement, social responsibility and cultural awareness. After-school clubs number more than 50 options a week. Examples include:
- Dance Team
- Art and Photography
- School of Rock (Music)
- Drama Club
- Sports: PSAL Basketball, Fencing, Soccer and Baseball. Also, Ping Pong, Golf and Tennis
- School Newspaper
PARTNERSHIPS The YMCA has created a number of partnerships over the years to enhance our After-school Program with organizations such as: Battery Dance Company (dance classes and performances), Wing Span Arts, the Moth, the YMCA Future Works Entrepreneurship Program, Goldman Sachs (Student Government and Ethics, Mentors, Summer Internships), International Y Foreign Exchange Program, Theatre (Epic Theatre, Globe Theatre, Open Doors Theatre Program), Bloomberg Summer Internships, and Deep Sea Entertainment.
