Chess Club

Chess club is a hang out spot where we play chess, have fun, teach the game to new grandmasters, and compete to see who the best chess player is!

This past year, chess club has also started to participate in school wide events such as the spring showcase, while also having club wide tournaments and a award ceremony. In the future, we hope to compete in city wide tournaments and win something!

The Millennium Math Team is a group of students dedicated to solving challenging math problems and working as a team. We aim to create a space where students can freely explore and deepen their passion for math. Each week, students challenge themselves by learning new concepts from various math levels and subjects, compete in monthly Math League contests against other high schools, and prepare for the end-of-year Purple Comet competition.

The Newspaper Club at Millennium, is a student-led club that focuses on writing and publishing a variety of topics, from teacher features to holiday recipes, we are big on fostering student engagement and diverse voices. Members engage in a creative process of brainstorming and writing, others editing, each month, honing their journalistic skills and contributing to the tradition of our high school's newspaper, The Millennium Phoenix.

Period Equity Club

Period Equity Club is a student-led group dedicated to promoting menstrual equity by raising awareness about period poverty, advocating for free and accessible menstrual products, and breaking the stigma surrounding menstruation. The club often organizes donation drives and educational club meetings to ensure that menstruation is treated as a basic health and human rights issue rather than a source of shame or disadvantage.

The Pre-Med Club is a dedicated group of high school students passionate about pursuing careers in the medical field. Our mission is to deepen our understanding of healthcare through guest speakers, volunteer opportunities, and engaging discussions. We also take part in skill-building activities and fundraising initiatives that strengthen our communication, leadership, and organizational skills while encouraging compassion and teamwork. With a shared commitment to medicine and patient care, we encourage our members to make a meaningful impact in healthcare.

The overall mission of the John Jay Campus Athletics Program is to enhance the holistic healthy lifestyles of all members of the school community through providing inclusive programs, facilities and training that promote physical fitness, competition and life-skill development.

 Accordingly, the Program has identified three core goals:

  1. To serve as a focal point in the school by integrating our diverse student body through common interests in healthy living; fierce, but friendly competition; and a sense of pride and school spirit;
  2. To provide varsity, junior varsity, and club athletic programs of the highest quality to ensure that the growth and development of our students is impacted in the most positive manner; and
  3. To contribute to our campus profile and city-wide reputation through equitable access to sports and supporting scholar athletes who excel both in the classroom and on the playing field.

Members prepare for and compete in Science Olympiad tournaments across diverse events in biology, chemistry, physics, earth science, engineering, technology, and more!

UNICEF

The UNICEF Club at Millennium High School is a student-led club affiliated with UNICEF USA. We aim to educate students about UNICEF’s global impact and humanitarian efforts, empowering them to take action through advocacy, fundraising, and community service opportunities that create meaningful change. The club also provides members with opportunities for leadership, collaboration, and skill-building, while learning directly from guest speakers such as UNICEF representatives and healthcare professionals. 

Voice for the Voiceless

Voice for the Voiceless Club Logo 

Voice for the Voiceless is a student led club dedicated to supporting the welfare of animals throughout the country. We are currently partnered with Every Last One Rescue, a local rescue in lower Manhattan. We have raised over $1000 in fundraisers and have donated countless supplies including food, blankets, and dog toys to the Animal Care Center of NYC. Our goal is to provide animals the comfort and love they deserve. Meeting times this school year is to be determined but you can stay updated on our instagram @voiceforthevoiceless_ mhs.
